Bodybuilder mid-set on the bench inside the gym
Est. 1978

01 · About

Forty-Six Years
on the Floor.

02 · The Code

The room
runs on
two rules.

One — at least two of everything. Two — the work matters more than the room around it.

We are not a fitness center. We are a private gym in the old sense of the word — a roomful of plates and benches and racks and the people who use them seriously. We have no music screaming from the ceiling and no app between you and the workout. The work is the point.

Members are competitive powerlifters, retired pros on a five-day bodybuilding split, returning lifters easing back in, and locals who have trained in this building since the Carter administration. Everyone trains on the same floor.

03 · The History

Same address.
Same code.

1978

The doors open.

A handful of locals open the gym a block from the surf at Trestles — a few benches, a power rack, and an honest commitment: no chrome, no theater, just the work.

1985

Twin of everything.

After a season of waiting in line for the squat rack, the owners commit to the rule that still defines the room — duplicate every station before adding anything new.

1999

Recovery, added.

Infrared saunas, massage therapy, and a quiet room for after the last set. The recovery room becomes the third pillar of the membership.

Today

Same address. Same code.

Members range from competitive powerlifters to retirees on a five-day split. The room has not changed its mind about what it is.
